2024 Convocation FAQs

Please see below a list of frequently asked questions about the SHP Convocation and Commencement Ceremonies. 

 The SHP Convocation Ceremony celebrates our School of Health Professions (SHP) students specifically on Monday, May 20th at NJPAC. Students have the honor to have their names read as they cross the stage. 

Rutgers New Brunswick & Rutgers Health Commencement is on Sunday, May 12th in New Brunswick at SHI Stadium. Graduates, family, friends, and fellow students from Rutgers University–New Brunswick and Rutgers Health are invited to join these year’s Commencement festivities. President Jonathan Holloway will preside over the Commencement and confer the degrees at this event. 

 The deadline to register is April 7th. Click here to register online. 

 The deadline to order regalia is March 31st . There is an early bird special discount if ordered before February 29th. Student regalia orders are online only. Click here to order student regalia. 

There will not be regalia available on site at NJPAC. Please make sure to have your regalia ready to go days before the event. Students will not be able to cross the stage without regalia.

 At Grad Fair you will be able to: 

  • Pick up Convocation tickets & honor cords.
  • Speak with Financial Aid
  • Meet with our Career Services team (review your CV/Resume; get tips on interview skills)
  • Film “Should Out Videos” for your social media
  • Take Professional Portraits

Island Photo will be hosting a professional photoshoot at our SHP Grad Fair. Graduates may reserve a photoshoot and receive headshots for LinkedIn and other professional sites. There is also an opportunity for Cap/Gown portraits (Cap/Gown Provided) Reservations are required and fill up fast.

Honor cords/sashes will be distributed at the SHP Grad fair (Date TBD).

Tickets will be distributed at the SHP Grad fair (Date TBD). Each graduate will receive 5 tickets, should extra tickets become available, a communication will go out. We do not advise not to plan on extra tickets as there are no guarantees. Please note that children do require a ticket.

Information to come as we get closer to the graduation ceremonies. A note that extra tickets may not be available due to overall graduate registration and guest #’s.

Limited parking, at your own expense, is available at NJPAC and in Military Park Garage, located across the street from NJPAC.

Yes, there will be a shuttle. Information to come as we get closer to the graduation ceremonies.

There will be staff members in a “welcoming area inside NJPAC” who will direct you first to registration and then toward where your graduating group will gather.

Please have your tickets and ID available at registration up on your phone or printed.

A Photographer will be available to take a picture of you just prior to either going up on stage or coming down after crossing. Information will be provided by Island Photography to order your graduate photo.

Specific time will be available soon. We do recommend that graduates arrive early to ensure you are on time and able to register and navigate to the graduate holding area.

Yes, NJPAC will have employees ready and available to provide accommodations. in certain areas of the arts center.
