Enrollment Management Student Success and Student Services is looking to expand their staff for the Spring 2024 semester.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled as an SHP Rutgers student pursuing a degree in a School of Health Professions discipline.
  • Students must have received a grade of “B” or higher in the course in which they wish to tutor.
  • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one on one support regarding academic disciplinary concepts.
  • Provide group study review sessions.
  • Review papers and assignments requiring specific formatting: APA, MLA, or NLM.
  • Complete session notes and attend trainings/ monthly staff meetings.

Student Success at Rutgers School of Health Professions is designed to:

  • Improve academic student engagement through the use of peer support and mentoring.
  • Build student confidence by using a hands on unbiased approach with one on one tutoring.

School of Health Professions: Warning, Probation, and Dismissal Policies

In the School of Health Professions, “Good Academic Standing” is based upon academic and clinical performance. As such, students are responsible for maintaining satisfactory grades in both their academic and clinical courses. The Office of Enrollment Management & Student Success, in collaboration with Program Directors, Chairs, and Vice Chairs, may take action on the academic record of every student whose semester or cumulative GPA is below the criteria for good academic standing. Students who are at risk for receiving a less than satisfactory course grade, as identified by poor performance through the mid-semester period, may receive a Course Academic Warning Letter from their course instructor. It is the responsibility of students to monitor and track their own academic record and performance, and failure to receive the notification does not nullify the academic standing action. Students are encouraged to seek assistance from their Course Instructor and Program Director/Advisor prior to falling below the academic standard criteria.

Students who are no longer in “Good Academic Standing” should consult the SHP policy 3.1.1 Academic Decision and Grade Review for information regarding academic decisions.

Each of the academic standings are described below:

Academic/Semester Warning

A student who fails to reach good academic standing by the end of a semester for the first time will be placed on Academic/Semester Warning. This is defined by the following criteria:

FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS a. A cumulative GPA below 2.5 OR b. One course grade below 2.0 (C, 73%) in any semester despite a satisfactory cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above

FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS a. A cumulative GPA below 3.0 OR b. One course grade below a 2.7 (B-, 80%) despite a satisfactory cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above*


Academic Probation

Students who fail to regain Good Academic Standing by the end of the Academic Warning Period (one semester), will be placed on Academic Probation. Students placed on Academic Probation will have one additional semester to meet the required cumulative GPA or be dismissed from the program. Academic Probation is defined by the following criteria:

FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS a. Cumulative GPA below 2.5 for a second consecutive semester OR b. Second course grade below 2.0 (C, 73%) in any subsequent semester despite a satisfactory cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above

FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS a. A cumulative GPA below 3.0 for a second consecutive semester OR b. Second course grade below a 2.7 (B-, 80%) despite a satisfactory cumulative GPA of 3.0 of above*

Students who have received an academic warning, or who are on probation will not be permitted to hold office or represent the school at any event unless permission has been granted by the program director.


Academic Dismissal

Academic Dismissal occurs under the following conditions: 

FOR All STUDENTS a. Failure to regain good academic standing (attain the appropriate cumulative GPA) after two semesters (Academic Warning & Academic Probation) b. A failed retake on one or more practical exams depending on program policies** c. Below satisfactory performance on a clinical, clerkship, dissertation, thesis research, or fieldwork experience as defined by the program**

FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS a. A third course grade below 2.0 (C, 73%) despite satisfactory cumulative GPA of a 2.5 or above b. A grade below 2.0 (C, 73%) for the same course twice c. A grade below 2.0 (C, 73%) for two or more courses in the same semester.

FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS* a. A third course grade below a 2.7 (B-, 80%) despite satisfactory cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or above b. A grade below 2.7 (B-, 80%) for the same course twice c. A grade below 2.7 (B-, 80%) for two or more courses in the same semester.
