Student Wins Counseling Award

Nada Samo, a student in our M.S. in Rehabilitation Counseling program, was the recipient of the Nancy Jaeger Award for Excellence in Counseling.

The award was given to Samo by Ramapo College.

She was selected from dozens of counselors, said Ramapo Director of Admissions Peter Rice.

“We are delighted to award the Nancy Jaeger Award for Excellence in Counseling to Nada,” Rice said.

Samo joined Al-Ghazaly Jr./Sr. High School in 2013. She also has been a domestic violence advocate for more than 10 years and participated in the founding of Wafaa org, an organization that provides many services to hundreds of low-income families in New Jersey.

She is currently pursing her master’s in psychiatric rehabilitation – clinical mental health counseling track.

“Without the education and training I’m receiving at Rutgers in the Rehab Counseling Program, I would have not been nominated or selected for this award,” said Samo.
