About

Dr. Amy B. Spagnolo has been a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions since 2000. She currently serves as the Program Director for the Master of Science in Psychiatric Rehabilitation Leadership Track. This program is the only one of its kind in the nation and is offered completely online to meet the need for a qualified workforce skilled in mental health management and leadership nationally and internationally.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, Dr. Spagnolo also participates in grant funded research projects, contributes to scholarly publications, and consults on ELearning activities for the University. She has worked on several studies that have examined social support and its effects on job tenure for people with serious mental illness, anti-stigma efforts designed to change perceptions of people with psychiatric disabilities, innovative strategies to address health care disparity for people with mental illness, wellness coaching curriculum to develop a peer provided service intervention, and the role of self efficacy in job seeking activities among people with psychiatric illnesses.
Dr. Spagnolo has several publications in peer reviewed journals, book reviews, and Certified Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner study guides. Most recently, Dr. Spagnolo has served as the Co-chairperson for the University’s ADA Taskforce to ensure equal access to online education for students with disabilities and Faculty Chairperson for the ELearning Faulty Users Group.
