My primary research interest falls into how potentially modifiable factors, such as diet, nutrition, inflammation, and hormonal exposures, influence women’s health across the lifespan. I have conducted chemoprevention and nutritional and cancer epidemiology research utilizing clinical trials and large prospective cohort studies funded by NIH/NCI.

Reducing Disease Risk Through Nutrition

My goal is to improve our understanding of biomarkers of exposure, particularly, the relationship between diet-related exposures and cancer and cardiovascular disease risk.

My research also involves the potential benefits and risks of green tea extract supplementation on women’s health analyzing data from the Minnesota Green Tea Trial biospecimen bank. Lastly, I am interested in the role of plant-based dietary supplements on obesity and risk factors for cardiovascular disease among women.
