Priyadarshini Kachroo, Ph.D.
Dr. Kachroo’s lab develops computational methods to identify clinically relevant multi-omic biomarkers with a focus on primordial prevention central to respiratory disease outcomes and other complex age-associated inflammatory diseases. Her long-term goal is to examine the most complete molecular profile of disease development through multi-omic integration and gain insights into gene-environment interactions across life-course.
Research Overview
Advancing Lung Health Through Precision Medicine
Lung resilience is a marker of healthy longevity making them inherently interlinked and involving several complex biochemical processes reflected in omics. Taking a life course approach, Dr. Kachroo has led various studies to establish early-life molecular origins of respiratory diseases including asthma and adult lung disease.
Her current focus is to identify integrative genetic, epigenetic and metabolomic biomarkers, gene-drug targets and inflammatory pathways predictive of lung function decline in children with asthma by using machine learning and network methods.

Brief Overview of Aims:
Aim 1: Genome-methylome-metabolome integration in association with lung function
Aim 2: Integrative omic-driven networks and pathways for lung function
The proposed study aims to identify predictive multi-omic biomarkers for lung function outcomes to elucidate the mediating role of genetic variants, metabolites and DNA-methylation CpGs in association with lung function decline during early life and adolescence in the context of asthma.
