About

Joni Dolce, Ph.D., CRC is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Counseling Professions at Rutgers School of Health Professions and a Project Associate with the SAMHSA funded Northeast and Caribbean Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC). Joni has several years of experience working in Supported Employment (SE) services, providing both direct employment services and supervising staff.

Currently, Joni supports behavioral health organizations to implement and sustain best practices in Supported Employment and Supported Education Services. She has developed curriculum and authored several peer reviewed articles and technical workbooks on employment and career services for people with mental health conditions. Her research interests include staff training and implementation as well as gaining a better understand of the role of stigma in the workplace.

Joni is principal investigator on a study exploring disclosure decision making in the workplace and previously a co-principal investigator examining human resource professionals’ views on hiring individuals with mental health conditions. She speaks and provides workshops and trainings on a variety of employment related topics, including presentations to behavioral health providers and employer audiences (e.g., Society for Human Resource Management). In addition to her work in NJ, Joni has provided training, technical assistance, and implementation support on a national level with the NY Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Veterans Administration, New York City’s Department of Health and Hygiene, New York states Vocational Rehabilitation Services (ACCES-VR), and the Washington State Health Care Authority. Joni has been invited to present to Human Resource professionals on the topic of mental health in the workplace and has been listed as a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) as a recommended speaker on this topic.

She has held leadership roles in NJ, including president of the NJ chapter of the National Rehabilitation Association and secretary of the NJ Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association as well as past member roles on the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Mental Health Training and Technology Transfer Center National Motivational Interviewing and Dissemination and Implementation working groups.
