Allison M Brown, PT, Ph.D. received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Therapy from The University of Vermont and a Master of Arts in Pathokinesiology from New York University. She then received a PhD in Physical Therapy from Temple University.
Dr Brown is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy. She is responsible for teaching Applied Kinesiology and Movement Analysis, Musculoskeletal I, Running Injury and 2-D Analysis and acts as a small group facilitator for Clinical Inquiry III.
Dr Brown’s research interests are in the field of biomechanics, specifically biomechanics of the cervical spine as it relates to sports related concussion risk and recovery as well as biomechanics of running injuries in the high school and collegiate runner. She has published several articles and presented nationally on these topics.

Research Interests:
My research interests include investigating the role of abnormal biomechanics and muscular fatigue on sports related injuries. In particular, I am interested in the role of fatigue on running mechanics and how these variables relate to overuse running injuries. Similarly, I am interested in the role of neck muscle strength and muscular fatigue in the prevention of, or recovery from sports related concussion.
Current Projects: Running – Current project includes investigating the clinical and biomechanical risk factors associated with repetitive running injury in the high school cross country runner.
Current Projects: Concussion – The purpose of this study is to follow Division III collegiate athletes from a baseline, pre-season assessment through their sports seasons. This study will assess for associations between neck strength and concussion occurrence and recovery.
