Purpose

This policy clarifies the requirements for registration status for courses given at SHP (i.e. full time, half time, less than half time).

Accountability

The Associate Dean for Academic Affairs is responsible for this policy. The SHP Registrar is responsible to implement this policy.

Policy

Full-time status of any undergraduate student is determined by registration for 12 or more undergraduate credits in any regular 16 week semester. Full-time status for any graduate student is determined by registration for 9 or more graduate credits in any regular 16 week semester.

Students are considered half-time status or less than half time dependent on the # of credits taken and length of the semester. Undergraduate students registered for 6 or more but less than 12 credits or graduate students registered for 5 or more but less than 9 credits in a 16 week semester are considered half-time.

Full-time status for students enrolled in summer and special sessions is determined both by the length of the semester and the number of credits attempted in relationship to a full academic (i. e. 16 week) semester.

Students time status is used for reporting enrollment status to various internal and external offices including Student Clearinghouse, Financial Aid, and the Office of International Affairs.

Students working on dissertations or thesis coursework may be considered full-time at the discretion of the Program Director.
