Purpose

This policy establishes the criteria for granting a Master’s Degree to an individual matriculated in a Doctoral Program.

Accountability

The Program Director in consultation with the Program’s Committee on Academic Standing and the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs will assure compliance with this policy. The SHP Registrar will be responsible for the implementation of this policy.

Policy

Any SHP Doctoral program, which has a mechanism in place to grant a Master’s degree in that program to current doctoral students who have fulfilled all the current requirements for graduation with a Master’s degree in that program, including any required separate thesis or graduate pr project, may recommend the award of a Master’s degree to the student. The criteria for granting this degree will be established by the individual program at the program/department level.
