Dr. Liz Abadiotakis, Program Director of the Rutgers Occupational Therapy Assistant Program and a Pediatric Occupational Therapist served as the panel expert to discuss this topic with educators and community leaders. The cursive writing bill passed the Senate voting session on January 12th. They anticipate passing the Assembly as well, and then going on to the Governor’s desk later this week.

NJ will join about half of the United States in reimplementing cursive writing into elementary curriculum to enhance literacy outcomes by focusing on orthographic skills.
