Matthew A. McQuillan Appointed to National Accreditation Leadership Role

Matthew A. McQuillan, DMSc, PA-C, DFAAPA, chair and program director of the Department of Physician Assistant Studies and Practice, has been appointed to serve on Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA)’s Post-Professional PA Doctorate Subcommission. His three-year term runs through December 31, 2028.

ARC-PA is the national accrediting body that sets educational standards for physician assistant (PA) programs across the United States, ensuring programs meet rigorous benchmarks for quality, curriculum, and clinical training. The subcommission on which McQuillan will serve focuses specifically on doctoral programs designed for practicing PAs seeking advanced education in leadership, healthcare administration, education, and policy.

As both faculty and an alumnus of the Rutgers PA program himself, McQuillan’s appointment reflects Rutgers School of Health Professions’ place at the forefront of PA education across the professional continuum. He brings more than two decades of service to ARC-PA, including previous roles as chair of the Commission’s Executive Board, and current vice chair of the Clinical Postgraduate Subcommission.

His appointment places him among a select group of national leaders shaping the standards and direction of doctoral-level PA education at a time when demand for advanced training in the profession continues to grow.
