tech4sure Turning Point Contribute Elluminate echo Moodle

On October 25, 2017, Rutgers Division of Continuing Studies' Teaching and Learning with Technology group sent out an e-mail stating that as of Friday, December 15th, 2017, Adobe Connect will no longer be available. Adobe Connect will be replaced with BigBlueButton.

What does this mean?

After December 15th, 2017, you will no longer be able to use meeting links and will no longer have access to your recordings to download or share the links to them.

What about my Adobe Connect recordings? How do I keep them?

You will need to download any recordings to your local computer before the December 15th deadline. We have suggested that, in addition to downloading any necessary recordings, you can upload them into Kaltura to use in your courses.

If you have any issues with accessing, downloading, or uploading your Adobe Connect recordings, please contact SHPHelp at or 973-972-9171.

Adobe Connect FAQ

Adobe Connect replaces Elluminate Live! and Blackboard Collaborate.

Before You Begin

Welcome to SHP's Adobe Connect information page! Adobe Connect is an online collaboration tool that allows users to conduct live web-conferencing. All you need is a computer that meets the minimum requirements, a broadband internet connection (eg. DSL, cable modem, Fiber......) and a headset (with a built-in microphone) , and a webcam (if needed).

It is very important that you use a headset (pictured to the left) with Adobe Connect and NOT your PC speakers. A USB headset is recommended. You can also use basic headphones (such as those from an MP3 player) if your webcam has a built-in microphone. But please note that external PC speakers or speakers that are built into a laptop will cause an echo for all other participants.

Make sure your headset is connected to your computer before starting Adobe Connect.

Getting Started

  • Click here to verify that your computer has the required software to launch Adobe Connect. If you do not have the correct version of Flash, the Flash installer will start automatically but may need your permission to proceed. Make sure you have rights to update the software in your computer; otherwise, contact your system administrator. You should install the Adobe Connect add-in, when prompted.

    Using Adobe Connect

To join your Adobe Connect session, follow the directions provided to you by your Instructor or SHP Adobe Connect Host. A "link" will be provided in your Moodle course for the Adobe Connect Room assigned to your session. Add this "link" to your browser's Favorites, especially if you will use this room again. When you have multiple Adobe Connect rooms, make sure to label them in your browser's Favorites appropriately.

Start by clicking the "link" to your assigned Adobe Connect Room. If you're joining as a Participant, you will be prompted to enter your Name. Please enter your First and Last Name in the space provided and click Enter Room.
