Before You Begin

Welcome to SHP's Adobe Connect information page! Adobe Connect is an online collaboration tool that allows users to conduct live web-conferencing. All you need is a computer that meets the minimum requirements, a broadband internet connection (eg. DSL, cable modem, Fiber......) and a headset (with a built-in microphone) , and a webcam (if needed).


It is very important that you use a headset (pictured to the left) with Adobe Connect and NOT your PC speakers. A USB headset is recommended. You can also use basic headphones (such as those from an MP3 player) if your webcam has a built-in microphone. But please note that external PC speakers or speakers that are built into a laptop will cause an echo for all other participants.

Make sure your headset is connected to your computer before starting Adobe Connect.


Getting Started

  • Click here to verify that your computer has the required software to launch Adobe Connect. If you do not have the correct version of Flash, the Flash installer will start automatically but may need your permission to proceed. Make sure you have rights to update the software in your computer; otherwise, contact your system administrator. You should install the Adobe Connect add-in, when prompted.

    Using Adobe Connect


    To join your Adobe Connect session, follow the directions provided to you by your Instructor or SHP Adobe Connect Host. A "link" will be provided in your Moodle course for the Adobe Connect Room assigned to your session. Add this "link" to your browser's Favorites, especially if you will use this room again. When you have multiple Adobe Connect rooms, make sure to label them in your browser's Favorites appropriately.


    Start by clicking the "link" to your assigned Adobe Connect Room. If you're joining as a Participant, you will be prompted to enter your Name. Please enter your First and Last Name in the space provided and click Enter Room.

    Once logged into the session, all participants must run the Audio Wizard Set-up. Make sure your headset is connected properly to the audio terminals of your computer. Click on Meeting>Audio Setup Wizard.

    The Audio Setup Wizard will set the correct microphone and audio playback levels (If audio problems still persists, check the head phone and microphone connections. It is required to use a HEADSET in every Adobe Connect session! Failure to use a headset will result in audio problems during the session!
