SHP Staff Member Elected to RU Senate

Meet Fatmata Kabia, our SHP Staff Senator to the Rutgers University Senate. A Program Support Specialist in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, Fatmata looks forward to working alongside other senators by being a voice on issues that affect members of the University. The Rutgers University Senate is the only advisory and legislative body that represents the entire community of faculty, students, staff, administrators and alumni to the Rutgers' president and boards. It serves as the principal advisory body to the president.

With several years of experience working on various committees, coupled with her passion to assist others, Fatmata saw the staff senator role as an opportunity for her to be effective and articulate issues on behalf of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences.

Her desire to initiate change stems from watching her father, a former social worker who was heavily involved in local government be the voice for those whom he worked with. Observing him inspired her to volunteer for causes both locally and internationally. She has supported environmental causes in Italy, assisted the elderly population in Costa Rica, and aided the homeless in Camden.

Fatmata is eager and ready to take on her role as Staff Senator. Please feel free to reach out to her at
