The Cardiac Sonography Program is located on the Scotch Plains campus (scheduled to move to Newark Rutgers SHP campus August 1, 2018). It is a fifteen month program starting in September and covers both clinical and didactic instruction in cardiac and vascular sonography and non-invasive cardiovascular physiologic testing. The course of study includes Applied Anatomy and Physiology, Pathophysiology, Ultrasound Physics, Instrumentation and Applied Cardiac and Vascular Sonography. Clinical training is provided in active Cardiovascular departments equipped with the most advanced ultrasound equipment. The Cardiac Sonography Program offers 3 educational options based on an applicant's prior educational history. The professional curriculum is exactly the same for all options.
Minimum program expectations: To prepare competent entry-level adult cardiovascular sonographers in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills), and affective (behavior) learning domains.
